Hello! Yes, I believe we are now a few towns apart, rather than a few time zones.Whistler wrote:HI KATYA I hear we are more proximal than previously

Ugh. One of the middle schoolers today was really getting my goat. I suspect him of having mild oppositional defiant disorder, but since I don't have access to his IEP I'll probably never know.

Are you subbing now, then? How is it going for you?UffishThought wrote:Ugh. One of the middle schoolers today was really getting my goat. I suspect him of having mild oppositional defiant disorder, but since I don't have access to his IEP I'll probably never know.

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
I am. It's all right. I don't have to spend all my free time planning lessons and grading assignments anymore, which is nice. But I also am mostly babysitting instead of teaching, and I don't get to know the kids as well, which makes my day much less enjoyable, too.
I'm subbing for my friend (a permanent sub herself) for a few weeks. Which means I get to do a little actual teaching and get to know a few of the kids, but they've already had a lot of subs so they're resentful, and middle school kids are not what I'm used to. Plus, two of the classes have a whole bunch of kids with mild special needs, which makes them more rowdy and likely to defy me.

Eh, I assume that news travels through social networks. (Unless you sat behind me tonight at the lecture I attended, and then I'd be a bit creeped out.)Squirrel wrote:Craig told me tonight that........ anonymity. But anyway, I'm excited!Katya wrote:Oh hi!

Oh, it gets worse. I'm working on a (tiny) research project and I needed information from a book at the BYU library, so I purchased a courtesy card so that I could photocopy a couple of pages, despite the fact that come Friday (two days from now!) I will be able to check out said book for free. But I didn't want to wait until Friday.Marduk wrote:Been here how long and already attending lectures? That Katya. Never slows down.

I found an online Thematic Apperception Test that somehow scores your story to the picture and compares it to average scores. I only scored a 1.55 N-Ach

I think Katya has a high need for books!

N-Boo, indicated by Thematic Apperception Test stories invariably turning to something in a book.Whistler wrote:I think Katya has a high need for books!

I like working on projects, especially knowledge-related ones, but I wouldn't say I'm in it for the praise / reward / recognition.Digit wrote:Interesting. would you say you have a high N-Ach?Katya wrote:Oh, it gets worse. I just got my last paycheck from my old job, and it's 50% larger than normal.
(I had vacation time I wasn't able to take before I left, so they were going to pay it out as regular work time, but I wasn't sure exactly when or how that would happen.)
Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
Yay extra monies! Host a board party, and then make them unpack all your stuff!
Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
Yeah, Katya is totally the kind of person who wants a bunch of people she's never met going through her stuff.

Eh, I'm not sure where I want anything to go yet, anyway. (Especially the books, which are about half of the boxes.)

Doing my taxes makes me feel very accomplished. Also, yay for refunds!
