I'm so frustrated with the glacial pace of figuring out what is causing my gall bladder pain. I had to wait a week to get a special scan, and now I have to wait another week (in lots of pain and running out of pain meds) before I can consult with a surgeon. I know I should be grateful I have access to all this amazing medical technology... but right now I just feel like crying.

That stinks Whistler! Was it the HIDA scan? (I've had a couple of what I thought were gall bladder attacks but my ultrasound came back normal, and that's the next thing my dr. recommended. But I really don't want to.) If it was, was it bad to go through?

I've read a few things about gluten worsening issues with the gall bladder, but gluten is like the new evil thing lately. Carbonation, stretches and heat are the things that usually ease the pain a little for me. Good luck!

yeah, I had a HIDA scan, and the result was that my gallbladder was functioning normally, but since I was in pain during the procedure that is a pretty good indicator that my gallbladder is making me miserable.

Thanks for your sympathies; I should try some ginger ale. I feel so discouraged.

I hope that all the plans can go quickly as soon as you meet with the surgeon. I hope you'll be well again soon! *hug*

And thanks for striking up a conversation with me at the party. It made me feel so good-- you're one of my favorite writers, so it was really cool!

So my ward's marriage numbers are below average, and now they're worried about us. They made a survey for everyone to fill out--things from "how often do you go on dates?" to "how much older/younger than yourself would you date?" to "what are your biggest pet peeves?" Today, the bishop shared the stats in the 3rd hour. While it's interesting to look at the stats, I guess, I always feel like that type of meeting is so useless and self-gratifying. Everyone gets to be self righteous about all the terrible dates they've been on, and hopes the offending parties finally get a clue and straighten up, but no one comes away thinking "man, I'm going to change my life because of this!"

I think the guy next to me had it right. If they want to motivate us to date more, a lesson saying "hey, learning how to interact socially is a hard thing, but you can do it, it just takes practice and persistence, and there's hope for you" would be a lot more effective than "here is a list of ways the people around you are ruling you out."

Also, I often hate them trying to interfere in my dating life at all.

Oh, good heavens. My first singles ward was a bit like that, but the bishop didn't put too much pressure on us and I didn't pay attention, anyway, because I was only 17.

I actually like those lessons, but not for the reasons we are supposed to like them. I like making fun of them, mostly, and giving the "I-dare-you-to-say-anything-to-me" look at the bishop or whoever.

Today was one of those days that makes me kind of not want to teach ever again.

Yeah, I basically got straight-up harassed. The administration is on it and hopefully I won't see this kid again until May (if I'm still at this job, it's a sub position of indefinite length), but it hasn't been fun dealing with it.

sometimes I think journalists and teachers have some things in common, because most of the time people think you do a good job, but that one kid who doesn't like you or the class (or how you argued something in an article) can make you completely miserable.

I hate it when two months after you just replaced the battery and the alternator the low battery light comes on when you start the car.

It's that time of year in which I could disappear off of Facebook for awhile. Too bad my responsibilities preclude me from doing so...

What does Alan Alda have anything to do with anything? I haven't heard his name in a loooooooong time (though now I want to rewatch the West Wing). Also, I think she was talking about finals.

Well, I was specifically referring to the gay marriage debate that exploded over my news feed last night...

But. I also need to get off so I can focus on school work...
