I used to be this way (and still kind of am). But something that helped me a lot was going on a mission. It helped me to be... while not more outgoing, necessarily, more quickly acclimatized to being around new people so I could be myself. Even if sometimes it is just pretending.

Granted, this is NOT a good reason (alone) to go on a mission, if Lonely had been thinking about it, then I would suggest she look/think more closely.

I still think it's something worth saying as I have definitely felt this way with more than one group of friends.
