Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
Marduk and I found a Catholic church (cathedral?) today while we were wandering around waiting for his car to be fixed. I loved it. I wish Mormon churches were that open, and beautiful, and had such good artwork... and acoustics. I got permission to come sing there. : )
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.

Found it? I knew it was there the whole time.bobtheenchantedone wrote:Marduk and I found a Catholic church (cathedral?) today while we were wandering around waiting for his car to be fixed. It may not have been a cathedral. Not all Catholic churches are cathedrals. Most diocese only have one. Our churches just kinda look like that.
You should check out my church: Corpus Christi Cathedral.

That doesn't really give you the full idea of it, but it's not a bad picture.

Thank you. If you don't mind, I'd like to alter your statement. Anyone can get married, but not everyone can find the right girl or boy to marry to which staying married to makes sense. Hmm, my sentence is a little awkward. Perhaps someone can improve upon it. Anyway I think you get the idea. And I hope you have married the right guy to whom you will enjoy at least forty years of marriage. And if forty years, why not the rest of eternity?Emiliana wrote:Congratulations to you too! It looks beautiful, Imogen. I've been to Corpus Christi, but I didn't go inside the Cathedral.Imogen wrote: It may not have been a cathedral. Not all Catholic churches are cathedrals. Most diocese only have one. Our churches just kinda look like that.

I think I mentioned this once before, but I'll repeat it now. My family visited the Catholic cathedral in Saint Louis. I believe that on the day of our visit they were holding a special meeting with some person of importance in the Catholic Church. So we just quietly looked around until the meeting was over. We were impressed with the beauty. We were still there after the meeting was over, and eventually we got to the place where the speaker had been, near the altar or something like that. Suddenly the important person came out from behind something and headed straight for us. We were not sure what he would say, and wondered if he would ask us to leave.
When he got close to our group he spread his arms to take in the whole of the building. As near as I can remember he said, "Isn't it wonderful? It makes you wonder, 'How much would all this sell for on eBay?'" We were all so shocked and surprised by his down-to-earth humor that we laughed out-loud. He spread a lot of good will that day. Now I have a fond memory of him and his Church.

If you're ever required to assign Sacrament Meeting speakers, please note that under 72 hours notice is nowhere near sufficient.

Tonight I am at the home of one of my aunt's friends for the third time, and for the first time I was able to sit downstairs and participate in conversation like a normal person. Progress!

I successfully managed to take a baby bathtub, add legs, and turn it into into a punch bowl for a speakeasy party I'm throwing. I'm so excited to test it out.

Got a straight 4.0! Hooray. Makes for a strong narrative arc for grad school. (My other class was Fiction Writing.)S.A.M. wrote:Nice! A legit academic course.

The only 4.0 semester I remember having was one spring term where I took archery and soccer just to keep my on campus job.

Hmm. One of my daughters a couple of months ago finished a class in Fiction Writing at BYU. She majored in English, minored in editing.Portia wrote:Got a straight 4.0! Hooray. I just started a contest on my blog, and so far my dad is the only one to participate. It's kind of embarrassing, actually.
