Check for unclaimed money
So ksl posted an article about unclaimed money in Utah: http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=27984475 (Thanks, Whistler, for commenting on that Facebook post so I saw it.) I just checked, just for kicks and giggles, and I have some unclaimed money! (I feel like I'm writing spam here. I'm not! I promise!) It's from when I worked at the Church and lived in Provo. So I'll be sending in that form today and getting myself some money. (Less than $100, but I'll take whatever I can get!)
Check it out for you, parents, grandparents, etc. Anyone that maybe lived in Utah. Ever.

I may just have to pretend I'm Bernell K Stone's family. He's got a lot of money coming to him.

I already checked AZ's... Apparently my family doesn't have any (surprise surprise).
Although it looked like my dear brother may have some in Utah... I'm not sure what his last address was in Provo, though.

Yes. It has a spot for a signature of notary public. Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't notice that. Now to figure out who in my neighborhood is a notary. I know someone is... You also have to include copies of your personal id (driver's license and SS card) and if the address is different from your current address, you have to submit proof of previous address. Which is going to be fun to find something sent to me at my first married house. I assume it's that one anyway... :/

I'll probably just ask them to do it next time I go to the bank.

Re: Check for unclaimed money
I looked and didn't have anything, but my husband did, which was cool. Then he suggested I look under my maiden name, and I did have something for over $100. Hooray. It's at an address from seven years ago, but I found an old birthday card my sister sent me, so I hope that counts as proof of address.

If you are close to downtown, the Utah County Recorder's office (100 E Center St) should be able to notarize.

Define "downtown" S.A.M. There are probably at least a dozen cities represented in this forum. By the address, I'm guessing you mean Provo. Which is about 45 mins from me. And I'd have to pass through about 3 other downtowns to get there.

And Marduk, the bank is an excellent idea. I rarely go inside, but they told me last time I drove through that I have to go inside so a banker can update my drivers license. (Because apparently the last 5 months of their records being expired haven't been a problem until just recently...)

Which I'd say is silly. But even sillier would be to drive that far just to get a notary. Especially as I found out my neighbor two doors down is one.

I found some money for my wife in Illinois! Don't forget to check all the states.
