Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
I don't think that person on FB knows what a communist is.
Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
I....I just.... see, Communism is when....
I give up.
I give up.

Um, this is a direct quote from The Communist Manifesto. Not that there's anything wrong with that ...Dragon Lady wrote:Yellow just got called a communist on Facebook because, in a discussion of "What smartphone should I get?" he commented:My night is made. Hah!Note, people: For the sake of making a decision, saying "iPhones suck" or "Android is garbage" isn't useful unless you specify *what* it was you didn't like. I doubt he's going to buy a phone purely based on how many people voted one way or the other. Talk about features and performance and apps and stuff, not just "it was good" or "it was bad".

I agree with the above statement. Well, both of them. Yellow is a communist, and he's right about cell phones.

There are some really good things in the University of Utah's surplus sale, like the bookshelves, bikes, and camera.

You guys, I said an entire sentence in Spanish today that was actually germane to the conversation and not just a canned sentence I'd learned from Duolingo.
Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
I had to stop Duolingo...I was already having so much trouble getting it mixed into Finnish
Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
nice Katya!

Que bueno! Ya eres un estudiante bien inteligente!Katya wrote:You guys, I said an entire sentence in Spanish today that was actually germane to the conversation and not just a canned sentence I'd learned from Duolingo.
(Also, my spell check just told me I spelled every word in that sentence wrong, except, for some strange reason, "un.")

What is the "ya" in that sentence?Marduk wrote:Que bueno! Ya eres un estudiante bien inteligente!Katya wrote:You guys, I said an entire sentence in Spanish today that was actually germane to the conversation and not just a canned sentence I'd learned from Duolingo.

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
"ya" is generally translated as "already" or "now."
So a rough translation would be "you are now a very intelligent student!"

We had a conference call. The guy said "arrows," but the way he pronounced it sounded like "hours" to both of us. Between that and the ambulance sirens, I wasn't surprised when I looked up the company and they were based out of NYC/NJ.
Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
I was expecting that to be something much more grammatically complicated ... Now I feel silly for not just looking it up myself.Marduk wrote:"ya" is generally translated as "already" or "now."

We just got a thing in the mail saying we get to participate in the Nielsen ratings. I'm so excited.

Interesting. So there's nothing against telling people, just selling your viewing?

Guys. Do not break falls with your face.
That is all.
That is all.
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.
Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
The coy Lolita reader drives me absolutely insane.
Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
I think they are hilarious!
Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
How long does it take to read Lolita? Don't they realize always referring it to as "this book I'm reading" ups the perv factor? Maybe this person is from Iran?mic0 wrote:I think they are hilarious!
