Should've waited til the Board Reunion. I await your official response. :D
Re: ATTN: Mico "The Beautiful and the Damned"
Hahaha, woooow! I will give this some thought when I get home in a few days. Can you explain Pyrrhic or should I just look it up?
Re: ATTN: Mico "The Beautiful and the Damned"
Credit: WikipediaA Pyrrhic victory is a victory with such a devastating cost that it is tantamount to defeat. Someone who wins a Pyrrhic victory has been victorious in some way; however, the heavy toll negates any sense of achievement or profit (another term for this would be "hollow victory", or "a ruinous situation").
The phrase Pyrrhic victory is named after Greek King Pyrrhus of Epirus, whose army suffered irreplaceable casualties in defeating the Romans at Heraclea in 280 BC and Asculum in 279 BC during the Pyrrhic War.
Re: ATTN: Mico "The Beautiful and the Damned"
Well, I'm sorry to say I really can't remember the plot well enough to give any interesting opinions here (and after ~10 minutes of searching I couldn't find any good plot summaries). I will say that I remember really liking the book, and that the Pyrrhic victory sounds right, but I just can't remember. :/ Sorry. Of the Fitzgerald books I've read, they all seem to have these bitter-sweet endings (yes, I *guess* they are happy, but are they fulfilled? Always the question).
