Fear my smiley face wrath.
By the way, I read at least two books a week during the school year... But I'm a high school student so I don't know if that changes things...

Yes, Remember what you learned in the DARE program so long ago. Remember Sheriff McGruff! Remember the Titans?!bobtheenchantedone wrote: Dude, Fred's using peer pressure on you. Don't give in! Just say "no!"

Oh, upon reading that, I totally thought that you were going to interpret DARE as something nasty, and I just started laughing when I read the rest of it. Brownie points to you sir.Fredjikrang wrote:

As an RM now coming up on 3 years home, I've felt older and older compared with lowerclassmen. I've noticed that a good way to feel old is to think of where you were when 9/11 happened. Everyone remembers where they were when that happened. I was a senior in high school (Class of '02), and my girlfriend was a freshman in college.
Her roommate? She's technically a Junior now. She was 13.
Geez. I'm so old.

Dude, I was in high school when the O.J. Simpson verdict was announced. (Watched on live TV during a history class, in fact.) If any good has come of 9/11, it is that the O.J. Simpson trial is no longer the defining moment of our generation.Cognoscente wrote:I've noticed that a good way to feel old is to think of where you were when 9/11 happened. That's true, we now have an incompetent president and the whole world hating us to define our generation. Of course the good thing about having such a sucky president is that our generation is actually getting involved and will vote.Benvolio wrote: Dude, I was in high school when the O.J. I had barely started ninth grade when 9/11 happened, but I skipped a grade.
I don't remember the OJ Simpson business, personally.
I was 14 when the Olympics came to Utah.
And about 10 with the Bill Clinton scandal.
And a Beehive when boy bands were popular.
And I think it was the summer before my junior year of h.s. when the first Pirates movies came out.

Cognoscente, I think your math is slightly off. I was definitely in junior high (7th grade) when OJ's verdict came out, but September 11th was definitely my freshman year of college. It happened to be the second Tuesday of the semester, so my first BYU devotional, which was supposed to be President and Sister Bateman welcoming us, turned out to be a rather improvised affair where we all sang "America the Beautiful" and President Bateman's scripted talk got scrapped in favor of comforting words to the BYU community. It was an interesting way to start college.
