First answer = epic win. That was classic.
I would have found that answer annoying if it had been written by someone else.
You mean someone who didn't also major in the humanities? And who you already know is being sarcastic? :)
Yes and yes. :) I took too much crap from engineering / physics types as an undergrad to have much tolerance for general humanities-bashing.

Most friendships are triangular, which, while stable after an engineering manner, are not so good when it comes to teenage relationships.

Loved the Little Mermaid song spread out over four answers (plus the original question). Also, it reminded me of this: http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/49039/ :D

I've been wondering...where does this thread belong: Reader Response or Favorite of the Day?

It's a reader's response to an answer they liked, so.

Browsing through the archives, I found this old little gem. Like Latro, I too laughed audibly. Okay, it was more snorting, but close enough.

I liked this answer so much, I asked a parody version of the question in tribute.

This would be a great quote for a Board poster (should such a thing ever come into existence). Maybe followed by "What would you do if you read the Board?"

I loved the Japanese fiancé answers! Not only did they cover a lot of ground, so I hoped they helped her out, but Sky Bones just answered a decade old mystery for me. See, i had this friend my freshman year. We were in the same group of friends, and that group did everything together first semester. Then second semester this girl started ignoring me and excluding me from everything. I asked her what was wrong, and she said she had no idea what I was talking about. But she would do something rude again the next day. And I would tell her that I truly wanted to work on what was bugging her, and she would again say that nothing at all was wrong. I was a wreck for a very long time trying to figure out what I had done and how to fix it if she wouldn't even admit she didn't want to be in the same room as me. She didn't like me again for YEARS, and then eventually got over whatever it was and we are now good, if distant, friends again. I have never learned what I did that offended her.

Aaaand her mom is Japanese. (Her parents met on his mission to Japan and he went back over to court her.) She studied Japanese in college, and now lives in Japan teaching English at a college over there. SO it turns out, after all these years, I'm not crazy! And neither is she! She's just Japanese. Wow. I can't tell you how much that made my day.

Thanks, 42! :) You just made my day, too. Really, I love Japanese people... they're so fascinating.

Ha! (Now I'm very curious as to who asked the question in the first place.)

"Want to give birth standing on your head? Well, they wouldn't recommend it and they've never had anyone do it, but if that's what you felt was best in the moment, they'd support you." :)

Rating Pending's answer was very funny, but I like that Appleton actually found a plausible explanation for the phenomenon.

The fact that MSJ is able to write from the perspective of an adopted child makes this answer really special.
