My 21 year old sister is dating a 28 year old. For a time, I was dating a 24 year old who plays/judges tournaments/sells/collects/writes articles about YuGiOh!
I am highly concerned by my sister's potentially abusive relationship while I am sad that factors beyond our control ended things between me and my geeky boy. I think know where I stand on this matter.

Good perspective. There are definitely worse things than having a hobby.

Yeah, I don't see what the big deal is about having a hobby. But then, I married a guy who's a huge PC gamer, so my perspective might be strange.

Having a hobby isn't so bad.
Pokémon, on the other hand, is awful.
Also, auto-correct just added an accent to Pokémon, without me doing so. Damn your ubiquity Pikachu!

Potentially abusive just because of the age difference or are there other warning signs?

There are other warning signs. I just find the idea that the age gap is an issue to be odd. My sister has a very large age gap between her and her boyfriend. But I'm concerned about more serious issues. Like his possessiveness and very short temper. I think what I'm trying to say is that 28 and anime-card-game-obsessed are both totally ok. What they mean in regards to his treatment of her is the greater issue. If his card games are more important than time with his girl, that's a problem. If he feels that his age means he has the right to control the relationship, that's a problem. The simple fact that he's older and plays cards are just parts of who he is.

Stego Lily, you rock! This is such an awesome answer. It's so true that being happy and having an awesome life while being single is super important.
I have nothing else to say, except repeat that you are super great.

I love when Squirrel answers questions with the persona of an actual squirrel.

It was interesting to see that the answer had a yes-no-yes-no-yes-no pattern. I mean- the answers could have come in a completely mixed up order....

Yeah, it totally took me a few seconds to figure out what she was doing and then I laughed out loud.

I liked Tally M.'s response to my question about antidepressant usage in Utah.
http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/73195/ Good information, balanced answer. I appreciate the time and effort it took to answer the question.

I liked the answers to the question from the Critic.
http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/73069/ I learned some things about how it works at the 100 Hour board, behind the scenes. When I read the question I could easily imagine some angry answers in response to the insensitive question, but instead the Board handled it well. Congratulations.

Hahahaha remember that time I was appalled if my boyfriend stayed up later than like 10:30 or 11? I am still totally that girl.
(I probably shouldn't find this quote so funny but I do: "Do I need to be willing to stay out later in order to get this marriage thing to happen?")

You are more than welcome. No problem on being late. I had the question on my mind for two years, so what is another week's wait?

I was also present at Art Vandelay's Hostess poem reading, and am pleased to see it released to the board reading public, mostly for the Little Debbie and twitter lines. I snorted.

The editors suddenly remember a really really old question. I was reading it like "Zedability - what? Ineffable - WHAT??"

I wondered about that, but since I haven't been reading the board until lately I didn't really know how long these writers had been gone. Is there a way for us ordinary folks to see when the question was first asked?
