If Ineffable answered it the question was likely asked in early April when we had the Board reunion tour. Of course that's assuming it wasn't already heinously over hours at that point.

Except I would've said to talk REALLY LOUDLY all the time about "What's that smell? Ugh, it's awful! Is it garbage? It's not our garbage? Geesh, that's awful!"

And they would hear you and be embarrassed but at least you wouldn't have to witness their embarrassment. And hopefully they would clean it up.

Props to Squirrel for this answer because (1) it's actually a half dozen semi-related questions, which are each a lot of work to answer and (2) the reader asking the question already had a huge chip on his/her shoulder, and it's extra work to talk people down from that state and to try to convince them that, no, there isn't some huge conspiracy against them, because everything they've observed actually has a reasonable explanation.

It's answers like Laser Jock's on median marital childbirth age that make me glad that there's no automatic-retirement policy. Having more "seasoned" researchers is what brings me back to the Board every day.

Looking better after gaining weight. Thanks for the sincere answers everyone! I hope the question-asker was satisfied. Mr. Mico has probably gained about 10 pounds since we met almost 5 years ago. He used to be SO SKINNY! Just 10 pounds made a difference, he seems a lot healthier to me. I also know for a fact that a few of my family members could stand to gain a few pounds and look a lot less skeletal and just generally healthier.

Story time! Where I used to live in East Africa, losing weight was considered a sign that you'd been sick or didn't have enough to eat. Well, I did get sick a lot while I lived there, so I'd lose weight. Then when I'd come to the US for a visit, my friends would all tell me, "[Emiliana!] You're looking so skinny!" -- and it was a compliment, which made me feel a little strange. When I'd come back from a visit to the US, my friends would all tell me, "[Emiliana]! You're looking so fat!" -- and it was a compliment, which ALSO made me feel a little strange. The point is, it's all a matter of perspective. In general, healthy people are more attractive than unhealthy people, but what looks "healthy" varies from person to person and culture to culture.

I also liked Rating Pending's answer about the guy who likes cross dressing. My first thought was, "So what? Who cares if he likes women's clothes?", but RP did a good job addressing the fact that it made the guy himself uncomfortable. I probably would have told the asker to mind her (or his?) own business, but RP was a little nicer than I would have been. I especially liked the signature: "Rating Pending (who is glad he isn't in charge of deciding what a 'normal male desire' is and even more glad that hes not required to be a 'normal male,' even if he mostly is)".

I like this because Squirrel's answer is very funny, but also because Tally M. answered the question seriously by looking things up in the Proper Sources and sometimes that kind of work doesn't get enough recognition.
