Best moments of LOST

Post by Damasta »

The writers gave some great answers. I'd just like to add to the pot:
  • The reveal that Locke's dad was the real Tom Sawyer. I guessed it beforehand, but I still thought it was awesome.
Looking over the list, however, makes me sad that so many cool mysteries (like why Radzinsky created the blast door map, why women on the island die during pregnancy, or why Kelvin Inman pretended that he couldn't leave the hatch without wearing hazmat gear) will probably never get a full explanation. If they have a show bible, I'd sure love for them to publish it so that I could have closure.

I have an unrelated side note to toss in.

My husband's coworkers apparently kept telling him that he "really needs to watch Lost". I think we saw the first episode, then missed a couple and never could catch up. So he decided that he needs to watch Lost. So he has been staying up late at night, using Hulu to watch Lost.

FROM THE BEGINNING.

I tried convincing him that now is probably not the time to catch up with Lost, seeing as it is almost DONE, but somehow that didn't phase him.

Your husband has my full support.

I rushed to catch up on Battlestar Galactica in time for the series finale and it was so worth it. Sure, there were some things about it that left me dissatisfied. But the excitement and anticipation were way better that way than opening the last disc from Netflix or clicking the next video on Hulu would've been. Just like watching Revenge of the Sith at midnight on the day it premiered in a theater packed full of people dressed up as Jedi and Sith, was way better than waiting for it to come out on DVD.

The series finale of LOST will be that way, too. I may be dysfunctional that whole day until the episode airs. It really hope it will be the biggest event in television history—like bigger than the M*A*S*H finale (source).

This year's Superbowl topped MASH, thus rendering many, many Trivial Pursuit questions obsolete.

Also, while I am a huge supporter of LOST and think it is one of the best shows in the history of the medium, based on its average number of viewers the last couple of seasons there is no way the finale will approach being in the ballpark of the series finale of MASH.

Sigh. You're probably right. The season premiere only raked in ~12 million viewers, which is far short of the 100+ million needed to beat M*A*S*H (or, now, Superbowl XLIV).

But that's actually not that surprising, given how many people complain that it's confusing or too complicated.

slightly off-topic post ftw!

Um. I don't watch LOST (never even seen an episode, but I look forward to finding a watching buddy so I can) but I just want to say:

My mom's cousin just named her baby Desmond Locke Surname.

(We're pretty cool, we have Surnames in the family.)

That's all I wanted to say. My mom told me the news and I was like, "They must watch LOST."

Hey Humble Master,

I love that you were contemplating the convergence of the LOST timelines when responding to Maddie's question.

Before the timelines merge, I hope that Sawyer-B and Juliet-B go out for coffee on a dutch-style date. Juliet in any timeline is better for Sawyer than Kate could ever be.

Oh, I quickly became convinced that she was seeing the alternate timeline when she asked Sawyer to coffee.
