Losing a Solitaire Game, #60654

Post by C is for »

I know this is old, but there are lots of questions that I kind of wish I'd been in the mood to respond to at the time (mostly the Doctor Who ones). I have noticed a trend in my years (many, many years) of playing Solitaire on a regular basis.

And that is that if there are only two un-turned cards, I can figure out a way to win. But if there are three, I might be out of luck, unless I finagle some other way out of it. It's a tried and true rule that I figured out in, oh, probably 7th grade. That's with one-deal, though. I think with three-deal I found that two cards might be a problem, but I don't play that, so it's kind of irrelevant to me.

It usually takes a while for me to realize I can't win a game of Solitare, but that is likely due to my frequent use of ctrl-z and shift-alt-ctrl. If I try enough times, I can usually find a method to win.

I don't play that much, but your hypothesis seems to make sense.

Three-deal usually frustrates me so much that I get mad after a couple games and quit.

One-deal always feels a bit like cheating to me.
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.
