teeth showering
Really? Brushing your teeth in the shower? I've never heard of it. Maybe it's more common with men than women. In my very tiny sample size of the 6 roomie apartment that I live in, no one brushes their teeth in the shower. So-- assuming that my apartment is representative for the entire female student population, and that Laser Jock's unofficial surveys are correct, that would mean that 50% of the men brush their teeth in the shower. So, men- do half of you really rinse and spit in the shower?

Re: teeth showering
I've never heard of anyone doing that before.
Re: teeth showering
My husband used to brush his teeth in the shower. I don't know why he doesn't anymore - maybe he does sometimes. I always thought it was weird and like... wouldn't you just get toothpaste on yourself? I don't know. Seems like it would be harder to brush well.
Re: teeth showering
Well, it must not be as high as 25% for the entire population. I'm guessing around 3% here.

Re: teeth showering
I was first introduced to the concept about 10 years ago when my toothbrush went missing one day, and I asked my roommate about it when she got home, and she said that she couldn't find hers so she had borrowed mine and that she must have left it in the shower.

Re: teeth showering
That's gross! I know that "give" said the little stream, but some things should not be shared!!!!!

I told her she could keep it.

Speaking of odd showering habits, my neighbor insists it's normal to eat in the shower. He takes a can of pears and a fork in with him when he goes. That's weird, right?

Yes. Yes it is. Although I shave in the shower, so I probably shouldn't judge. But I think that isn't horribly rare, anyway.

Re: teeth showering
yayfulness, it actually hadn't occurred to me that people shaved anywhere but in the shower. Although I suppose men could probably shave in front of the mirror or something. I hadn't ever really thought about it. The only men I've ever lived with (dad and brother) have beards so they don't shave.

Re: teeth showering
And eating in the shower just seems like an incredibly bad idea. Your food's going to get all wet and gross. That's even worse than eating on the toilet.
Re: teeth showering
There's a game I played once with friends called "smurf." Someone would leave the room and everyone else would decide what smurf meant for that round -- things like showering, or buying clothes, or reading a book. The person would come back in and ask questions to figure out what smurf meant. We chose smurf to mean brushing your teeth.
When Boy came back into the room, he asked Girl, "Do you smurf in the shower?" Funny thing was, she was the only person I've ever met who brushes her teeth in the shower, so she said yes. I think it threw him off for a bit.

Re: teeth showering
My dad brushed his teeth in the shower. He left the toothbrush just sitting on the side of the tub. But he also loves soap-on-a-rope, so he's obviously an outlier.
I had a companion use my toothbrush for about a week before I called him on it. I had my suspicions, since it was often not in the exact place I'd left it and the bristles were sometimes still wet. He was from Armenia and said that in his family they all shared just one toothbrush so that was just common for him--he didn't realize that people don't share toothbrushes the way they share soap (I didn't much like him using my bar of soap either, since he left hair all over it, but whatever).

Uffish, multiple people have told me that eating a mango in the shower is the only way to eat a mango
Re: teeth showering
I honestly have never eaten anything in the shower. I won't knock it till I try it, but I don't think I'm going to try it.

Sauron ate cereal in the shower once when he was really rushed.

Re: teeth showering
I vouch for eating mangoes not in the shower, instead, cutting them in half and eating them like a bowl of cereal with a spoon and the rind as a bowl.
Also, on my mission, I brushed my teeth in the shower (at least in one of my areas), because there was no tub, and so the whole bathroom was the tub and the drain was in the middle of the floor, so you could just reach over and grab your toothbrush.

Doesn't the gigantic menacing pit get in the way of that? I'm curious because I happen to have about five mangoes in front of me right now.Giovanni Schwartz wrote:I vouch for eating mangoes not in the shower, instead, cutting them in half and eating them like a bowl of cereal with a spoon and the rind as a bowl.
On the Louis C.K. show he hands his daughter a mango on a fork and calls it a "mango pop". That's a pretty brilliant (yet potentially very sticky) option.
