Depression

Post by Tally M. »

Re: BQ #71884

There seems to be a significant number of writers that have suffered from depression at some point. I'm not implying the Board cause depression, but thoughts if there's a significant overrepresentation of depression (compared to an average population) or if it in fact an average population.

The board seems to attract a higher than average I.Q., something often correlated to depression. Also introverts, another corollary to depression.

Actually, the evidence linking intelligence and depression is generally not good.

The introvert point probably has something to it, though.

A question was just asked about this very thing.

Perhaps Board writers/readers are highly prone to self-evaluation.

I'd just been talking to yayfulness about it--thus him asking the question.

Sometimes I wish I could take more time to treat my depression instead of just ignoring it.

A friend of mine was talking to me about something like this earlier. I wasn't feeling well, and wasn't getting enough sleep. He mentioned that if I took a little bit more time to sleep--I'd be better off later, and I would be able to function at a higher level instead of just dragging myself along.

So, the same thing could apply to depression...
