I just thought I would post a response in The Board Board to a question asked on the Board in regard to comments made on The Board Board. Just for the fun of it. That’s all. :)

It's unfortunate that so many people are starting to see this forum as angry (and I say that as someone who has occasionally taken or given offense). All I can offer is that the bb, in its current state, has made me a better person; I am becoming more open to others' ideas and less bull-headed about my own.
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.

Compared to just about anywhere on the Internet I think we do a pretty darn good job of discussing issues respectfully. Yeah, we sometimes get pissy, and yeah, sometimes feelings get hurt, but I think it's almost impossible to have real, honest conversations about difficult issues without that happening sometimes. Could we do better? Of course. Would it be more pleasant if we steered away from tough stuff altogether? Maybe. But ultimately I think we are better because we're willing to have real conversations. And there are also a lot of threads (like Random Chatter and Less Than 100 Hours) where we are, almost without exception, supportive, informative, and/or lighthearted. So let's not be too hard on ourselves, okay?

I hope I did an adequate job of responding to that question. I do think this is a decent place to discuss things, and I really do enjoy the community we have here. There are times, though, when it gets a little bit...rough.

Yeah, you told it like you saw it, and that's your job. Plus, this isn't the first board-related message board that became higher-strung and higher-stakes than the board itself. The people who want to stay will stay, the people want to leave will leave, and maybe one day there will be a new message board that will be more closely tied to the content and style of the board, and it will start again.

When I read the question I thought, good luck in finding or creating a better place. But I agree with others here that we could do better. That was a very positive way to look at it, Bob. Good comments everyone. And I also thought Tally M. answered the question well.

oh, Blue Beta. I think it was one of my first forums, and I didn't know the other posters well enough so I completely stopped participating when name calling started in some thread somewhere.

I think so, but I'm not involved there any more.
