Temple in Jerusalem #74490

Interesting discussion by Dragon Lady. I've often wondered about this. The Muslim Dome of the Rock is a beautiful building, and it would be a shame to see it destroyed. One speculation I've heard is that an Arab rocket or missile gone astray might blow it up, and the Israelis would then build their own temple at the spot. That seems unlikely as it would be very provocative--likely leading to a major war. Three coexisting temples within the walls is an interesting thought. I don't know that our temple in Jerusalem needs to be in exactly the same place as the Dome of the Rock.

Vorpal! You're back! (Clearly it's been awhile since I've been on here. I have no clue how long it's been since you've been back…Yellow just told me there was a thread about my question, so I came to look.) As for the LDS temple, I really don't think there is a reason why it would need to be in a specific place. Just on the Temple Mount. Or, I suppose, maybe just in Jerusalem? Maybe I should go read up on the temple prophecy/ies again. Hmmm…:/

Yes, I'm back! Good to hear from you again. I was wondering where you were, though I saw that you had posted a couple of months before I came back. I came back around June 14th.

I visited Jerusalem on two different occassions, both times with my parents. The first time for me was also the first time for my parents. Afterwards my dad became something of an LDS expert on Israel and often led tour groups there. He is getting old, but I thought I'd talk to him about the Jerusalem temple the next time I go see him. I also was thinking I should read up on the prophecies.

There's a great book called Jerusalem: Past, Present and Future. I'd recommend it.
