Site encryption (HTTPS) available

Post by Laser Jock »

The forum is now available over SSL (HTTPS) if anyone wants: just put https:// in front (e.g., https://www.theboardboard.org/). There are a few exceptions; namely, if you're on Windows XP* and using Internet Explorer or Safari, SSL will not work. Also, Android 2.x will not work, nor will first-gen Kindle Fires (although possibly the later ones will? not sure). Just about any other browser should. (And of course, the site will work just like before without encryption, on any browser.) If you have any difficulties, let me know and I'll look into it.

* Also, if you're still on Windows XP, might want to figure out your upgrade plan before Microsoft leaves you for the wolves, er, virus writers next April 8. (No more security updates after that point.) And if your place of employment is still using Windows XP...well, hopefully they have a plan too. :)
