Facial hair on men

Post by Portia »

I enjoy facial hair more and more as I get older. Maybe men 24 and over can pull it off better. And I would disagree that blonds aren't good candidates. If you have a weird, patchy, multicolored growth, yeah, don't, but if you have a thick, wheat-colored beard, that looks good.

Hah I got the same indignant feedback from my mom, reminding me that one reason she liked my dad was his blond mustache.

Maybe your dad having a blond mustache is relevant to why you are not attracted to blond facial hair. :P

Hahah maybe? He never had a mustache after I was born though and his hair darkened more to brown.

Oh, man. I'm usually against mustaches, but my twin home teachers last year could do it. They look like old timey fighter pilots. And since they were both in the ROTC to learn to be pilots, it worked.

My uncle can mustache, too. He looks a little like Tom Selleck.

And I'm in favor of beards, so long as they're full beards (no goatees or things like that) and they're not patchy. And they're not long.

My dad can mustache. I was SO DISTRAUGHT when he shaved it. I almost cried.

I'm okay with full beards after they're past the scratchy stubble point to veritable scruff. However, the in between stage, I'm not okay with.

I'm all for interesting shave pattern beards or goatees. Not a full beard. I know a few guys who look good with it, but it's really not my thing. And shorter looks nicer. But it needs to definitely be grown out, not just unshaven. I do reserve the right to suddenly change this opinion if that one cute guy kisses me and it is distractingly uncomfortable. :p

I like the sensation of kissing guys with facial hair, although the scratchy stubble can be a bit irritating. I think facial hair is "manly," though. Although men look younger clean-shaven, which can be good for photos.

The big concern is does it give "beard burn"? Day or two old stubble does. I'm not sure how long it has to be to avoid that if you're kissing more than just a little peck. Having not kissed a guy with real facial hair (or not really kissed), I don't know what the tipping point is.

Badge of honor, no problem. Discomfort, well... he'd better be a good enough kisser to make up for it.

BEATRICE
Just, if he send me no husband, for the which blessing I am
at him upon my knees every morning and evening. Lord, I
could not endure a husband with a beard on his face! I had
rather lie in the woolen.

LEONATO
You may light on a husband that hath no beard.

BEATRICE
What should I do with him? Dress him in my apparel and
make him my waiting gentlewoman? He that hath a beard
is more than a youth, and he that hath no beard is less than
a man; and he that is more than a youth is not for me, and
he that is less than a man, I am not for him. Therefore I will
even take sixpence in earnest of the bearherd, and lead his
apes into hell.

My friend can grow the most GLORIOUS blond beard. It's even better than Thor's. I had another friend who tried to claim that blond men can't grow good beards, and I showed her a picture of my bearded friend and it shut her right up.

I used to not like facial hair at all, but I've discovered that I have a thing for gingerbeards. If it pleases the court, allow me to demonstrate.

I rest my case.

Marx has had facial hair ever since I've known him, and I'm a big fan. My only mandate is if his mustache is long enough that it goes up my nose when he kisses me, the whole thing needs a trim.

I generally don't like mustaches without beards, except my dad's. My dad had a mustache most of the time I was growing up. He shaved it a few years ago because the left side had turned grey and the right was still brown-black and it looked kind of silly. A good reason, but it still made me sad.

Amity... those are some good-looking beards. (Although, I already liked beards. But, woah.)

I had a roommate once upon a time who kissed her boyfriend goodnight. The next morning she woke me up in a panic. She had gotten a beard burn from all her kissing the night before. Her poor chin was rubbed raw. She worked at the testing center (at BYU-I) and was like, "I can't go into work looking like this! I'm supposed to always look nice to set an example!" (She was part of management. Looking nice was a Big Deal to them.) So she put foundation on it. Her skin (or lack thereof?) reacted to the foundation and it turned her chin purple. It was hysterically awful.

In good news, she has a great sense of humor. She knew she couldn't tell her boss it was from making out, so she started making up stories, each less likely than the last, when people asked what happened. Somewhere in there she'd throw in the truth, then after 5-6 stories she'd say, "On of those is the truth. You decide." They were everything from slipping on the ice to falling asleep writing a letter and drooled on the envelope, making it stick to her chin, then she had to rip it off, to a wild mongoose breaking in and, thinking her chin was a fruitcake, pecked at her. The envelope one was my favorite. Perhaps because it's plausible, but *highly* entertaining to imagine. Oddly, most people didn't believe the making out story. So she was safe from criticism from work.

It remains one of my favorite college memories.

As those who have seen Marduk lately might guess, I am a fan of facial hair. Not only does he just look sexier with (and with his long luxurious locks as well) but he looks a little like my brother without. Not okay.
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.
