Hello? Is it me you're looking for?

Boy, this place is quiet. Where'd everyone go?

Hi! It has been super quiet around here. I've just been enjoying the enormous luxuries of being a teacher on summer break, which include enormous amounts of frolicking and sleeping in and bingewatching, along with a significant amount of professional development and curriculum writing.

Embracing my future as a fast-talking stressed-out executive. Had an amazing staycation with ziplines, free flowing wine and beer (and people smoking, ugh), and hot European interns.

Currently, however, in a medical study. They're testing a close relative of Valium as an anesthetic. It seemed to knock other women out but I've been hyper-alert. Lol. I hate medical facilities more than anything in this world, but I'm a whore for science at this point. :P

I think that this is the first time ever that the Kosher Board has been more active than this one.

I am resisting putting my two cents in because it will only cause me to lose sleep.

Yeah, I am having the same reaction to the Kosher Boardboard.

I just moved in with Unlucky Stuntman and her boyfriend in Portland a little less than two weeks ago. My girlfriend is coming for a visit tomorrow. I've made a lot of progress since moving.

I LOVED parts of it, like the studies she cited that demonstrate that obesity and genetics have a strong relationship. I wished that the first part of her answer had been less conciliatory, hey-buddy-I-can-see-you're-a-reasonable-guy-I'm-gonna-be-nice-so-you'll-listen-y. I'm sure that that bit was projection, though.

https://instagram.com/p/BWbLfUQDQqq/ made me think of that weird imbroglio

I think my favorite is that it's being instigated by a man who seems to be supremely uncomfortable and downright toxic regarding anyone who IS attractive doing anything about it. Three cheers for the patriarchy!!

If you want to know where I've been, I went from Idaho to Utah to Idaho to Utah, back to Idaho, back to Utah, then Arizona, Nevada, California, Nevada, Arizona, and back to Utah. I'm done with long car rides for a bit.

That's 'cause they were both right after references to my brother, who's been stirring up drama lately. Nothing against you, C. I like you!

Well, I just finished my master's, start the PhD in fall, and am juggling teaching at two colleges and a part time delivery job -- and in between I'm revising papers to try and publish and working on conference presentations -- so yeah, I'm pretty busy.

It is really settling in that I will always be overworked for the rest of my life. Intellectually, I knew that's what getting into academia meant. But now I'm actually experiencing it.

I just signed up for session 5 of my creative non-fiction writing group and am applying to a dual-degree program through my grad school, because I've found that when I overbook myself the existential void stays at bay a bit.

Debating between going to Bumbershoot or round two of Shakespeare Fest over Labor Day. Do we have any apostate board people up in Seattle? It's the city I'm targeting for my internship next year and my first job out of school. I will miss certain aspects of Utah, but not the heat, the bad air, or the politics.
