Re: Baby gift for coworker + wife?
Good ideas! I think when we visit her (hopefully next week), I can find out what movies or shows she likes and maybe we can do more stuff together. The couple times I met her she just seemed very kind and a bit shy, understandably. I'll look up that movie, too.

Baby gift for coworker + wife?
My coworker's wife (let's call her Anna for ease) is pregnant and due in about 2 months. Unfortunately she is having a really hard pregnancy and they don't even know if the baby will survive. She goes to the doctor a couple times a week, gets blood tests, is on a really strict diet, etc. One of my o...

The way healthcare works in this country is ridiculous. That sucks.

I've recently been reminiscing on my high school debate days and how many Ted talks are similar to a quality oratory. This reminds me of how in junior high school I did oratory and had a TED-talk-esque speech (pre-TED talks, of course) about the therapeutic qualities of chocolate. :D As if anyone n...

Re: #85500 - same-gender attraction
Although I think in an LDS context, any sexual desires often feel like a struggle, because LDS culture has a hard time accepting that sexual thoughts are normal (just my experience). That's a good point, though, really. And I just want to add my voice to those wishing this girl well. And her future...

Re: Presentation Topic
A linguistics professor at BYU worked on a paper about the differences between the Utah Mormon accent and the Utah non-Mormon accent . It might be fun/interesting to talk about sociolinguistics and how we all have these weird cues in our speech about not just where we live but other aspects of our i...

Re: What's your favorite cheese?
You guys are just making me so hungry, and I love it. All the cheeses have their place (except that maggot one, well it has a place, just not in my mouth). No one's mentioned Jarlsberg yet so I'll just say I love a good Jarlsberg, too.

I understand that, it's still funny wording.Tally M. wrote: It's more that writers who were students when they started don't have do leave when they are no longer students, rather than allowing people to start writing after they've graduated.

Re: The Board Survey
Holy moly, that was thorough. There has been hate for theboardboard for quite some time ("the board hate board"?). We've discussed it here, too, honestly I can see how others would perceive it as clique-ish. I wonder who will decide what is "anti-Mormon" on the new forum! I doubt...

Just started reading a book written by my cousin! Wish me luck (it's called the Kings' promise, so far okay but it is just weird to think my younger cousin wrote this.)

Re: Overly Competitive Game Players
Whenever I play dominion I know I'm going to lose (because of the people I play with, they are all good :D), so I just curse everyone as much as I can or do other mean things. Also you have to know your audience when playing a game. And know the game. And be prepared to accept that not everyone will...

Today's puns were awesome , and I especially want to point out Auto-Surf's great Spanish puns translated into English! They read like anti-jokes, and they are hilarious in their weirdness. I don't know nearly enough Spanish to try and figure out what any of them were supposed to be punning on. It's...

Re: Book of Mormon musical
I just saw this today! I quite liked it. Four years ago when this topic came up, I said I had no interest in seeing it, then I went through a time where I even turned it off (haha...) if it came up on Pandora. Then a few months ago I finally heard "Hello!". It was hilarious. Then I found o...
