Re: Stuff we're reading / watching / listening to
I finally read Persuasion, and it was awesome because I knew nothing about it going in. Literally the only things I knew about the plot beforehand were that someone fell off a wall at the coast and somebody wrote a letter while pretending to write a different letter. Now I need to dig up a movie ver...

I haven't read anything by him yet, but I'm so excited that a former BYU student is going to direct the movie.Portia wrote: I started Looking for Alaska tonight and it has really resonated with me thus far.

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
The idea that women "need" to remove hair from any part of their bodies was basically made up by razor companies to sell more razors around the time it became socially acceptable for women to wear short skirts. I feel that shaving, both for men and for women, ought to be entirely optional...

Re: Church discipline
This doesn't really answer the heart of your question (someone with Handbook 1 (ch.6) will know more about what to expect), but I don't think naming Tom is forcing him to confess; it's the natural outcome of his actions coming to bear. We always get to choose our actions, we never get to choose the ...

Ask "Am I free to leave?" If yes, then leave. This is something my dad definitely taught us growing up. You can be detained without being arrested, but the longest they can reasonably detain you is like, 45 minutes. After that you can just say "Hey, if I'm not under arrest then I'm f...

I spent something like $150 for Final Draft for screenwriting. Which is the student price. Normally it's probably a hundred dollars more than that.

Cub Scouts get to go to day camp for a week in the summer, but Activity Day girls don't really get to do anything, so I asked my bishop if I could host a day camp for our AD girls and he said absolutely, so now I get to plan an awesome day camp! Awesome! What kinds of activities are you planning? D...

I got in with a 3.4/31 and I didn't apply for any other schools. This makes me want to play BYU Admissions limbo. (How low can you go!) My GPA was pretty close to a 3.0 (I can't remember, it's been so long), but definitely no higher than a 3.2 and my ACT equivalent was a 31. I also did not apply to...

Also I'm throwing a Pride & Prejudice and Pi(e) slumber party for my birthday next week, which I am really looking forward to. I miss you. If you have a spare day in Utah we should get together! Yes! We fly in the 9th and leave on the 13th, so it will be tight, but I definitely want to make tim...

My sister-in-law is getting married in July, which means a trip to Utah, where I will see family and eat at all my favorite restaurants from college. Less than two weeks later my sister is getting married in Oregon, which means seeing even more family, eating at all my favorite hometown restaurants,...

Re: What makes you happy today?
Church got cancelled because we've had a ton of snow and ice where I live! I know I shouldn't really be happy about that, but church stuff usually lasts close to six hours because of my calling, so I'm super stoked that my Sunday can actually be a day of rest and peace this week instead of being sup...

Can I just say that I don't see a point in plumping yourself up? It would be one thing if you were dressing up as someone whose shtick is being fat, like, Fat Albert or Fat Amy or someone, but being plump really has nothing to do with Mrs. Patmore's character. Just wear what she would wear (dress, a...

I'm the same way. My family has low blood pressure so we pass out left right and center over nothing. It happens to me when people start talking about pregnancy or childbirth - I don't even have to see anything graphic, I just get a ringing in my ears and everything starts to go black.

Re: Awkward Initials #80490
When my cousin was in elementary school her teacher had kids write their initials on the board when they left to use the restroom. That way the teacher could know who was out and the other kids knew not to go until they got back. Except my cousin's initials are P.P. and she was mortified by the thou...

The shower is hosted by someone outside the family and it is therefore acceptable for THAT person to disseminate information about the registries. Kind of round about and ridiculous, but that's the acceptable way to do things 'round here. I refuse to have a shower. After Google searching a bit, it ...

Congrats, G.A.!! When do you get to move in? We can get into the house on Monday, but we don't move until Saturday. During the week I'm going to send as many small boxes as I can with my husband so he can drop them off on his way to or from work. And best news ever, I was worried about closing cost...
