69975--LDS Carols

Post by Giovanni Schwartz »

The writer of Far Far Away on Judea's Plains is great-great-(great?) grandfather to one of my mission companions.

Samuel Tells of the Baby Jesus is a rather nice little Christmas song that's very LDS specific. I don't know why it's only in the children's book.

It might be hard to adapt that one to organ, but I agree that it's really nice.

I spent forever trying to figure out why you were talking about playing it on the organ, before I saw that krebscout mentioned it being only in the children's song book (as opposed to the hymn book).

I think the song could be very nice played on the manuals, but I don't know that it would work well for congregational singing, so maybe just as prelude or postlude?

SPEAKING of organ-playing, I am playing tomorrow and I want to use my usual prelude stops for Silent Night, just on a higher volume... is this is a bad thing to do?

Only if your prelude stops include Mixture IV

isn't that the annoying, kind of dissonant one?
