69975--LDS Carols
The writer of Far Far Away on Judea's Plains is great-great-(great?) grandfather to one of my mission companions.
Re: 69975--LDS Carols
Samuel Tells of the Baby Jesus is a rather nice little Christmas song that's very LDS specific. I don't know why it's only in the children's book.
Re: 69975--LDS Carols
It might be hard to adapt that one to organ, but I agree that it's really nice.
Re: 69975--LDS Carols
I spent forever trying to figure out why you were talking about playing it on the organ, before I saw that krebscout mentioned it being only in the children's song book (as opposed to the hymn book).Defy V wrote:It might be hard to adapt that one to organ, but I agree that it's really nice.
I think the song could be very nice played on the manuals, but I don't know that it would work well for congregational singing, so maybe just as prelude or postlude?
Re: 69975--LDS Carols
SPEAKING of organ-playing, I am playing tomorrow and I want to use my usual prelude stops for Silent Night, just on a higher volume... is this is a bad thing to do?
Re: 69975--LDS Carols
Only if your prelude stops include Mixture IV
Re: 69975--LDS Carols
isn't that the annoying, kind of dissonant one?
