I thought Chrysanthemum's response to my plea for a board photo gallery was really cute and funny, but I still want one-- Just a place where you can enjoy all of the board photos- it's difficult to search them in the archives because not all of them have the word "picture", or "photo" in the answer...... as if you don't already have enough work to do.....

That's the real answer. It's a lot of work to go through the archives and add every single picture. Also, I'd think it would be hard to automate adding to a photo gallery after it's created, because some images in Board questions aren't necessarily images you'd want in the photo gallery.

Hmm... You know, Whistler, I think you're on to something. I have no idea how to run a website, but maybe this could work. What if I went through the archives and found every paper-bag photo on the board and either copied and saved it in a file of your choice (windows photo gallery?), or sent the Board a "question" with a link to every paper bag photo? Would that work?

It's a pretty good way of saying "do go out of your way to look interested, but if they don't reciprocate, knock it off!"

That said, I checked out some of the rest of the guy's blog a couple of months ago, and was largely unimpressed. But really, that's fine--I'm sure there are women out there (lots of them!) who would go for his dating style. That's the thing about trying to figure out the "rules," though--everyone's playing a different game. Which is great, because I love Scrabble, but find Trivial Pursuit painful.

The concept of "points" and "rules" is stressful to me. I don't like quantifying subjective human interactions. Although I can see Seinfeld mining a lot of humor out of the "you only leave so many voicemails" idea. Of course that is a forgotten, dead, culture, pre-cell-phone, where the gang had all sorts of misunderstandings waiting at movie theaters and being late. Constant communication hurts dating in that people think they have to be talking all the dang time. Adding quid pro quos doesn't really solve the fundamental issue in my view.

My favorite less known hymn is definitely one of the 5-flat ones. I love "As The Shadows Fall." Like really love it.

Try 126 sometime. It's my favorite, though I doubt I'll ever get away with us singing it in sacrament.

I think 118 is lovely, and it is a dream of mine to have a double quartet sing it as a musical number sometime.

Anyway. Our ward choir is totally up to either of those, seeing as we sang a Dan Forrest piece in sacrament yesterday. But I've already antagonized the director by being a Hermione so I hesitate to suggest.

I thoroughly enjoyed the commentary on the hymns, especially on all the "oh we're learning how to play hymns" hymns. Also, I appreciated the pianist and chord comments. I'm holding onto this doc for the next time I'm playing anything besides prelude music.

Why not?

People don't know them. Makes it hard to sing them. Also, as much as I'd like to, I really don't think "As The Shadows Fall" quite fits as a closing song...

So all the reasons why I think we should sing them more often in sacrament meeting. : ) Then again, I'm the one whose goal this year is to know the melody and first verse of every single hymn in the hymnbook. I realize that not everyone wants to be musically challenged in church.

I find some hymns inappropriate in sacrament meeting because I've found my solo voice (I sang only in choirs for years) by making emotional connections to songs and personalizing them. So singing a hymn on my own with my own rhythm and additions is energizing, while singing the same hymn in sacrament meeting just makes me tired.

Hearing a girl tell me that a guy coming home on medical release was a dealbreaker for her would probably be a dealbreaker for me.
