Date Me, Dump me.

I really liked Stego Lily's answer. Although my personal philosophy is "If we've tried dating and it didn't work out/I'm not going to marry you, then I don't think we need to hang out either." Sure, it's not the best way to keep friends, but at the same time, in my experience, after people get married, they don't really hang out with single people anymore. And by the time their former single friends are married, they've been out of touch long enough that it just isn't worth it.

Re: Answers I liked
Just in general there have been a lot of answers that I've really liked lately. I'm way too lazy/tired to post a lot of them on here, but I am really enjoying the board these days.
Re: Answers I liked
Stego Lily and I should be buds, because I want to print out her answer about BYU pros/cons and hand it to everyone I know to sum up those 4.5 non-consecutive years of my life.

Re: Answers I liked
I've heard that sexual assault is actually fairly prevalent in the Provo area, which is the opposite of what Concorde claimed. I wonder who is right? (I tried to find statistics, but alas, I am not wise in the ways of Google apparently.)
The Epistler was quite honestly knocked on her ethereal behind by the sheer logic of this.
Re: Answers I liked
I've looked into it as well and found Concorde's claim. I'll check for stats though.
ETA: You should just ask a Board question, bob. As of my cursory glancing, Provo seems to have a lower rate than most universities. Probably because of the dearth of alcohol.

Wrote an essay on this. I have to run to go exercise, but I'll dig it up and post the relevant facts. Summary: Utah in general, and Provo specifically, are much lower on all other crime rates except rape, which is higher than average.

Re: Answers I liked
Those are the statistics that I finally found as well.

Re: Answers I liked
The police officer that gave the girls in my freshman building our "rape whistles" said that incidences of sexual assault at BYU were equal in number to other universities, for what that's worth. I'm interested in those stats.
Re: Answers I liked
I'll look up my old stats because I'm fairly certain that when I was a freshman I was looking at police stats for rape at BYU and found it to be on the low side. Either way, compared to the extreme that I grew up in, Provo is relatively safer.
Re: Answers I liked
Hmm. After researching, I stand corrected. A simple google search reveals that Provo is on par with rape averages and may be higher even because a lot of cases go unreported. I'm very sorry to find that out.... That's awful..

I liked Dragon Lady's answer to this question. http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/74374/
No surprise there. I generally like what Dragon Lady writes.

I liked Yay's response to the application reject (Sorry if you read the board. Reject).

Yes. That was excellent.

Crazy, rambling, semi-incoherent questions are often my favorite, because in them, I see the most potential for growth.
This is as clear-cut a case of The Other Prodigal Syndrome as I have ever seen.
This is as clear-cut a case of The Other Prodigal Syndrome as I have ever seen.
Feeling unappreciated and perhaps more than a little self-pity, this dutiful son—and he is wonderfully dutiful—forgets for a moment that he has never had to know filth or despair, fear or self-loathing. ... He forgets for a moment that his faithfulness has been and always will be rewarded.
Certainly this younger brother had been a prisoner—a prisoner of sin, stupidity, and a pigsty. But the older brother lives in some confinement, too. He has, as yet, been unable to break out of the prison of himself. He is haunted by the green-eyed monster of jealousy. He feels taken for granted by his father and disenfranchised by his brother, when neither is the case. He has fallen victim to a fictional affront. As such he is like Tantalus of Greek mythology—he is up to his chin in water, but he remains thirsty nevertheless. One who has heretofore presumably been very happy with his life and content with his good fortune suddenly feels very unhappy simply because another has had some good fortune as well.

It made me laugh that both writers were unwilling to attach their names to a lingerie answer, despite the fact that neither answer was provocative at all.
Also, what I hear is that lingerie is pretty much entirely for the woman (when a man has a choice between a scantily-clad wife and a naked wife, not many will opt for the one still wearing clothes), so she really shouldn't worry about it too much.

man, I didn't know there were so many styles of lingerie. Am I missing out on something? I'm pretty sure it's all sexy style.

I have to say, there have been some quality answers to relationship, life, and other big questions as of late. Good job board writers.
