Re: Family and Work: My Thoughts, Let Me Show You Them
Family life as we think of it has only really been in existence since the industrial revolution. Prior to that men and women and children would all work together to keep things running smoothly. Prior to the 18th century fathers were actually responsible for their children's upbringing and mothers w...

Re: Life lessons
I've learned that I need to not stress about my various friendships, they will be just fine-better even- if I stop worrying about what my friends think of me and just be there for them and trust them to be there for me.

Re: New Name
I've thought about going by my middle name before. But I just don't think I can imagine a future boyfriend/husband calling me Ann. So even though my first name isn't the elegant name I sometimes wished I had, I think I'll stick with it.

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
My eyes don't want to open today, and making them stay open is just making everything fuzzy. I didn't even skimp on sleep last night.

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
So I am making an effort to attend institute more often. This is only partially related to my calling to my ward's institute counsel. My stake only has it on Thursday night, and I work every other Thursday. So I texted a few friends and after weighing the options (including distance to walk, likelih...

Re: Linguistic patterns in Utah (question #68779)
Egg, leg, peg all have the same vowel when I pronounce them. My linguistics major former roommate is free to step out of the shadows and correct me on this if she has noticed a difference.

If I ever need/want to find out who any of you are I just ask my old roommate. She does my stalking for me. I know how to find people out, I just usually don't.

Re: I Dreamed a Dream
So, my dreams when I am sick are odd. I just woke up from one where I was watching a football game with my best guy friend, and the game was a bit slow. Oregon was playing Michigan, but there was an argument on the sidelines between a couple cheerleaders over rechargeable batteries for xbox controll...

Re: Linguistic patterns in Utah (question #68779)
My sister makes a point to pronounce the t sound everywhere. It gets on my nerves sometimes, but whatever. Sluff is a word I feel like I've always known, but never used. The only two people I know who use it are my friend from south-east Idaho and my friend from West Valley, Utah. Or somewhere there...

Re: add/drop deadline
I'm pretty sure it's the end, since when they had add/drop cards it was the end of business Monday. Fun fact: I once added a class in the last month of school because the professor found out I hadn't enrolled in the right section. So there are people you can talk to if you need to switch things arou...

Re: Bob Jones University
I graduated unmarried at 23, and one of my upper level Family Life classes had 8 women in it, only one of who was married and it was not the one who was under 21. Granted it was a philosophy class and a very small class (just the 8 of us), but I don't think young marriages are as common as they are ...

also I think I am going to take that programming course because it sounds cool Seriously, I've been teaching myself python this week. Mostly because I'm actually employed as a programmer and I would like to expand my programming knowledge. I think an actual class may help my motivation to pursue ad...

I wanted to go to Costa Vida, but my sister didn't. So I'm just having sourdough bread toasted with butter for dinner.

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
So I was getting annoyed with my old computer and debating buying a new one. The desision was made for me when my hard drive crashed yesterday. I'd had so many issues with my old computer that I didn't feel like dealing with taking it to a shop, when I could get a new computer for about the same pri...

So last night I sliced my leg with a dull xacto knife. It's only a little cut though. Not like the time I sliced my entire hand open with a box cutter.

Re: Happy Days in Random Chatter 10
Anyone have any good canker sore cures? I've tried quite a few without success, but it'll probably be a month or more before my current flare-up has died down again, so I have lots of time to try a few new ones. I've never had them, but I had a roommate who would swear that Alum powder cured canker...

I don't know that it's that big a deal, seeing as he's a child actor. Also, most people actually don't know how to socialize outside of their peer group before adulthood because of our current education system.
