Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die

I heard that the reason they still awarded it to him was because they didn't know he had died. They unknowingly broke their own policy.

Re: Should you go to med school?

That was a great story, NerdGirl. Thanks for sharing. Along those same lines, one of my husband's fellow classmates in PT school is in her 40's and spent the last 20 years in finance/marketing. She finally decided she was tired of business, took the prereqs for PT school at a community college, and ...

Re: Nine for Random Chatter, doomed to die

Um, well, it's been almost a year now since DU (not Newsnet, apparently they don't use that name anymore) severed ties with the Board. There's really nothing to gossip about... the Board became too much of a liability to them. It was a very stressful time.

Re: Choosing schools

My sis-in-law sends her kids to a charter school in that (sort of) general area, and she says only high things about it. But yeah, I completely agree with 42 here. My younger sis is special needs and it was fascinating to see how some teachers would just click with her and not do so well with other ...

Re: #64557 - Looking for a word

http://theboard.byu.edu/questions/64557/ I regret to inform Gimgimno that I knew the meaning of the word "quincunx" before reading this question. (Although, by "regret to inform Gimgimno," I may mean "am smug about showing of to Gimgimno.") For those who are int...

Re: Stuff we're reading / watching / listening to

I gave away a few of my English Harry Potter books to some of my junior high students in Japan. They were thrilled to pieces about it.

Re: Mother-in-law rant

So happy you're keeping your chin up, 42! :) And now, my latest in-law story just to cheer you up: my in-laws happily announced to my husband via e-mail that in two weeks they'll be driving my husband's older brother (who is almost 32) out to grad school in California, moving him in and then staying...

Re: Sex Education in the Church

@Katya: Right, as I referenced in my answer, it would be nice if parents (I should throw in guardians here, too) knew their children well enough to know how to approach and discuss the topic of sex. I would love to be able to openly discuss sex and intimacy with the YW in my ward, but I think it wou...

Re: Sex Education in the Church

Bob, sorry I didn't make this clear in my answer, but I don't think being able to openly (and maturely) discuss sex isn't just a problem at church, I think it's a problem just about everywhere. It seems to be human nature to be reluctant to openly discuss certain topics, like sex and intimacy. Maybe...

Re: my sis-in-law

I know we've briefly discussed this before, DL, but I have some new thoughts, too. As I mentioned to you, your sis-in-law sounds almost exactly like my oldest brother's wife. She always acts friendly and positive when she's around... but the thing is she is never around. Granted, they do live about ...

My daughter wore a sleeveless sundress to church today, and I thought she looked dang cute. So did a few other people who commented on it.

Thanks for the clarification, Wisteria! I completely get what you were trying to say now and I agree. I do have more to say on this topic, but alas, I must go to work now. I will comment later and perhaps clarify some of the things I was saying before. 42 and I have discussed this topic together bef...

Right, so is she suggesting that about all people who make comments, then? That just seems like a tough thing to say on a discussion forum.

Okay, going back and reading my last comment made me think I came across as angry/disturbed. I'm really not. I'm really just trying to understand the point you were trying to make, Wisteria. 'Cause I really don't get it.

Re: Blood Type

My blood type is O negative, and I only know that from when I was pregnant. If anyone has some awesome suggestions for overcoming a serious fear of needles, then I'd love to donate blood at some point... my heart rate has always been too high in the past because I get so freaked out.
